Not just another conference!
“20-Now” is an action forum with the goal of getting 20 big building owners to publicly pledge energy reductions of 20% in the presence of their peers during the event.
“20-Now” is the sequel to its predecessor event staged in Washington, D.C. in 2008, where nearly 600 federal, state and local commercial buildings, accounting for 74 million square feet of space, were pledged for energy efficiency measures with 380 coming from Governor Kaine and the Commonwealth of Virginia. These buildings together generated projected annual dollar savings of $36.5 million as well as 545 million pounds of avoided CO2 emissions – the carbon equivalent of taking 45,000 cars off the road!

Is the public sector more enlightened than its commercial counterpart on green building practices? The good news is that the numbers work and the value is there. If it is good enough for the Empire State Building, it is good enough for you!

iMPACT is putting industry, technology companies and the sporting world (via the LGPA/Duramed FUTURES tour relationship) at the table with experts from government, NGOs and academia (through the Energy Efficiency Partnership, an initiative of Virginia Tech), with the goal of helping commercial building owners make more money, save more money, create value all while making a positive impact on the environment.
